How much does it cost to make an app in India?
An app’s price follows its screens, its data and the systems it talks to more than the platform it runs on. Two apps with the same number of screens can be priced far apart when one needs offline sync, payments and connections to your other systems and the other only shows information.
Our app packages, with the starting price, the first things each includes and the delivery time, read from the price list:
- Internal Tools & Portals — from ₹45,000
- Mobile App (MVP) — from ₹1,25,000
- Field Workforce App — from ₹1,65,000
Native, cross-platform or web app: which should you pay for?
Writing separate apps for Android and iOS means two codebases to build, test and maintain. Our Mobile App (MVP) is built in React Native, so Android and iOS ship from a single codebase.
If the people using the app are your own staff, you may not need an app store at all. Internal Tools & Portals works on any device with no install, with role-based access, offline capture for field teams, photo, GPS and signature capture, and approval workflows. There is no store listing to maintain and no store review to wait for.
Teams that work where the signal drops need an app that keeps working offline. The Field Workforce App handles jobs, proof and reporting from the field, even without signal.
What drives the cost of an app?
Go through these before you ask for quotes. Each one you can leave out of version one makes the first release cheaper and faster.
- Users and roles. A customer app, a staff app and an admin panel are three products even when they share a backend. An admin panel is not in the MVP’s feature list, so if you need one it is scoped and priced separately.
- Accounts and data. Sign-in, profiles, and whether data has to work offline and sync later. The MVP includes auth, profiles, push notifications and an offline-tolerant data layer.
- Payments. One-off payments or subscriptions are in the MVP. Selling digital goods inside an iPhone app brings in Apple’s commission, shown in the next section.
- Connections. A CRM, Tally or WhatsApp each add work, priced as their own packages: for example Tally Integration & Automation or the Sales CRM Starter.
- Store submission. Screenshots, privacy details, review and resubmission. Store submission and review handling are part of the MVP.
- Knowing what breaks. Crash and analytics instrumentation is in the MVP, so problems after launch are visible without waiting for complaints.
What does an app cost to run?
Fees charged by other companies are not in our package prices: app-store accounts, hosting and software licences are paid to those companies, as our terms set out.
Apple publishes its developer fees and App Store commission on its developer site 1 2. Publishing on Google Play needs a Play Console developer account; check Google’s current registration terms in Play Console before you budget.
The MVP’s backend runs on Firebase, which Google bills by usage as your user base grows, and payment gateways charge on each transaction. Phones and app-store rules keep changing, so plan for upkeep: Managed Support & Growth starts at ₹14,000, with security patching and upgrades and the founder on agreed monthly hours.
| Item | Apple’s published figure |
|---|---|
| Apple Developer Program membership | 99 USD per membership year, or the local-currency price where available |
| Commission on digital goods and services sold through the App Store | 30% |
| Commission in the App Store Small Business Program, and on qualifying subscriptions | 15% |
| Who qualifies for the Small Business Program | Developers with up to 1 million USD in proceeds in the previous calendar year, and developers new to the App Store |
Should you buy a ready-made app instead?
If your app is close to one we already sell, a ready-made product is faster than a build: it is branded as yours and live in 7 days, with app-store submission handled where needed. Buying gives you the full source code and the right to run and change it for your own business; renting is a monthly licence with maintenance and fixes included while you pay. Every product comes with an admin panel, documentation and training, and three months of support, with Razorpay or Stripe wired in where the product takes payments. TradeX is a paper-trading web app: its users trade simulated money, no real order is placed, and it takes no payments.
Build the MVP when the core of your product is new; start from a product when it is not. If you are unsure, the Tech Strategy Consultation (₹3,000) gives a build-versus-buy recommendation in two sessions.
- FitPro — buy ₹49,000 or rent ₹9,999 a month
- DietMate — buy ₹49,000 or rent ₹7,999 a month
- TradeX — buy ₹1,49,000 or rent ₹24,999 a month
What do typical app budgets look like?
These examples add up the starting prices on our cards, the same arithmetic as the app cost calculator, which also compares buying a ready-made app with renting it.
- New brand launching an app: Brand Identity Kit, Mobile App (MVP) — from ₹1,38,000 together
- Customer app with orders posted to Tally: Mobile App (MVP), Tally Integration & Automation — from ₹1,37,000 together
- Staff tool replacing a spreadsheet, with a CRM: Internal Tools & Portals, Sales CRM Starter — from ₹63,000 together
- Field app with a management dashboard: Field Workforce App, Business Intelligence Dashboard — from ₹2,10,000 together
How do you read an app quote?
App quotes differ most in what they leave out: the backend, the admin panel, store submission and what happens after launch. Ask each supplier these questions in writing.
- Is it one codebase for Android and iOS, or two separate apps?
- Are the backend and an admin panel included, and who hosts them?
- Is store submission included, and who handles a rejection?
- Which other companies will bill you after launch, and for what?
- Are the developer accounts in your company’s name, and who owns the code once you have paid?
- What support is included after launch, and what does upkeep cost after that?
How we worked out these figures
Every MakinForU price on this page is read from our live price list and products page when the page is built. Example budgets add those starting prices together; they are not bundle discounts.
Apple’s figures are copied from Apple’s own developer pages on the date shown; Apple notes that different commission rates and fees can apply in some countries, and prices the membership in local currency where available. Costs that depend on your usage or provider, such as cloud hosting and gateway fees, are named without a figure: check the provider’s current pricing page.
