How much does an ERP cost in India?
An ERP has three costs. The software licence, which is nothing for an open-source edition. The implementation that fits the software to your business: process mapping, master data, configuration, migration, training and go-live. And the running cost of hosting, support and upgrades. In most projects the implementation is the largest cost and the main risk.
Our ERP packages are implementation prices. The three rollouts (distribution and logistics, ERP and inventory, manufacturing) are built on Odoo with Postgres rather than written from nothing; stock sync across channels is a smaller build on Node and Postgres. Each is a starting price for the scope listed on its page:
- Retail & Marketplace Stock Sync — from ₹50,000
- Distribution & Logistics ERP — from ₹1,60,000
- ERP & Inventory Rollout — from ₹1,75,000
- Manufacturing ERP — from ₹2,18,000
Odoo, ERPNext or custom: what are you paying for?
Odoo’s open-source edition is published under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3 1, and its code includes an Indian accounting localisation with Indian charts of accounts 2. Odoo comes in more than one edition, so which one fits, and where the system is hosted, is settled on our scope call; check Odoo’s own website for its current plans and prices.
ERPNext is open source under the GNU General Public License, version 3 3, and built on the Frappe Framework. For Indian GST, the open-source India Compliance app adds GST return preparation, e-invoice and e-way bill integration and GSTIN validation on top of ERPNext; some of its automation needs a paid India Compliance account, because the GST APIs behind it carry costs 4.
A licence-free core does not make an ERP free. Someone still has to configure it, migrate your data, train your people and look after it, and that is the work our packages price. A fully custom ERP makes sense only when no ERP fits the way you work, which is rare for accounts, purchase and stock and more common on the shop floor or in dispatch.
What drives the cost of implementing an ERP?
These are the questions that size an ERP project. A supplier who quotes without asking them is guessing.
- Sites and warehouses. How many locations, stores and companies. Our rollout builds a location and warehouse hierarchy and goes live one site at a time.
- Manufacturing depth. Multi-level BOMs and routings, work orders and job cards, raw material and WIP tracking, quality checks, and costing per batch.
- Distribution. Multi-warehouse stock and transfers, trip planning, digital proof of delivery, freight and hamali costing, and depot-wise profitability.
- Master data. Items, units, vendors and locations set up and validated before go-live, because a wrong unit of measure shows up in every report afterwards.
- Accounts. Whether finance stays in Tally, synced, or moves into the ERP. The manufacturing package includes a sync to Tally or your finance ledger.
- People. Super-user training and 30 days of hypercare are part of the rollout package; your team’s time for testing and data entry is part of the real cost.
Do you need an ERP, or Tally plus integrations?
Many businesses keep their accounts well in TallyPrime and struggle with everything around it: stock across locations, production, dispatch, marketplace orders. An ERP is not the only fix. Connecting your store, marketplaces or CRM to Tally (from ₹12,000) or keeping one stock number across your channels (from ₹50,000) can solve the immediate problem for a fraction of an ERP’s cost.
Move to an ERP when stock, purchase and production need to be planned in one place, across sites, by several people at once. If you cannot tell which problem you have because your systems simply disagree with each other, the Drift Audit (₹49,000, 2–3 weeks) maps where and why before anything else is quoted. For a build-versus-buy view and a roadmap, the Tech Strategy Consultation costs ₹3,000.
What will an ERP cost to run?
Running costs are paid to other companies and are not in our package prices, as our terms set out. Ask for them in writing before you sign.
- Licences: none for the open-source editions; paid editions and hosted plans are priced by their vendors and paid to them.
- Hosting: a server or managed hosting for the ERP and its database, with backups.
- GST services: if the ERP files returns or generates e-invoices through a paid API service, that service bills you.
- Support and upgrades: Managed Support & Growth starts at ₹14,000, with security patching and upgrades.
- Your team’s time: disciplined data entry, testing and training during the rollout.
What do typical ERP budgets look like?
These examples add up the starting prices on our cards. They show common combinations, not discounts.
- Marketplace seller: one stock number, posted to Tally: Retail & Marketplace Stock Sync, Tally Integration & Automation — from ₹62,000 together
- ERP rollout with data migration: ERP & Inventory Rollout, Data Migration & Quality — from ₹1,90,000 together
- Distributor: logistics ERP with a dashboard: Distribution & Logistics ERP, Business Intelligence Dashboard — from ₹2,05,000 together
- Manufacturer: ERP with a finance dashboard: Manufacturing ERP, Finance MIS & Cash-Flow Dashboard — from ₹2,63,000 together
How do you compare ERP proposals?
ERP proposals are easy to make look cheap by leaving work out. Ask each supplier these questions and compare the written answers.
- Is process mapping done before configuration, and is it in the price?
- Which modules, sites, companies and users are in scope?
- Who prepares and validates the master data?
- Does go-live happen all at once, or one site at a time?
- What training and hypercare are included, and for how long?
- Which edition, licences and hosting will you pay for, and to whom?
How we worked out these figures
Every MakinForU price on this page is read from our live price list when the page is built, so it always matches the package cards. Example budgets add those starting prices together; they are not bundle discounts.
Facts about Odoo, ERPNext and India Compliance come from the projects’ own licence files and documentation in their public repositories, on the date shown. Paid editions, hosted plans and per-user prices change and depend on the plan, so we point to the vendors’ own pricing pages instead of printing figures.
