What does Meta charge per WhatsApp message in India?
02How are service replies charged?
Each business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages a month, and every service message after that costs ₹0.1150, the same as a utility message. Utility templates sent inside an open customer-service window are charged at the utility rate as well. Meta has billed service messages this way since 1 October 2026.
Meta’s documentation also says a payment method needs to be on file for service messages to keep being delivered once the free allowance is used, so check that your WhatsApp Business account has one.
What is not in this number?
Only Meta’s own list rates are counted. Volume-tier discounts for very high utility and authentication volumes, taxes, and any platform fee your WhatsApp solution provider adds are not included. Meta can change its rates only on the first day of a quarter — the next such date is 1 January 2027 — so treat the result as a planning figure and confirm against Meta’s page before you budget.

Meta charges per delivered message: ₹0.8631 for a marketing template and ₹0.1150 for a utility or authentication template, for recipients in India. Service replies cost ₹0.1150 each after the first 1,000 a month, which are free for every business phone number.
Are replies to customers free?
The first 1,000 a month are. Each business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages a month — free-form replies inside the 24-hour window after a customer writes to you — and each one after that costs ₹0.1150.
Does this include your setup fee?
