How much does a website cost in India in 2026?
There is no single market rate. Freelancers, template shops and agencies quote for different amounts of work, so two quotes for “a website” can describe two different products. The useful question is what the site has to do: be found in search, explain several services, take bookings, sell products, or let customers log in. Each of those jobs adds work, and the work is what you pay for.
Our own answer is published. The table lists every website package on our price list, from the one-page site to portals, with its starting price, the first things it includes and its delivery time. Each figure is the starting price for the scope listed on the package’s page; your fixed price arrives in a written proposal after a 15-minute scope call.
- One-Page Website — from ₹9,000
- Business Website — from ₹25,000
- Marketing Site + SEO/GEO — from ₹40,000
- Booking & Appointments Site — from ₹15,000
- Shopify Store Setup — from ₹15,000
- Customer Self-Service Portal — from ₹25,000
- E-commerce Build — from ₹50,000
- Learning Portal (LMS) — from ₹60,000
- Real Estate Listing Portal — from ₹1,11,000
What moves the price of a website?
Six things decide most of a website quote. Check each one against what you actually need before you compare two prices, because a cheaper quote usually leaves one of them out.
- Page types, not page count. A home page, a service page template and a contact page are three designs; ten service pages built on one template are mostly content work. The Business Website covers up to 12 designed pages.
- Words and pictures. Copywriting and photography are often missing from a quote. On our packages, anything the package page does not list, copywriting and photography included, is scoped on the call and priced in the proposal.
- Editing. A site your team can update without calling a developer needs a content management system. The Business Website includes a headless CMS your team can edit.
- Search. Being found is a different job from looking good: keyword and intent mapping, schema markup, internal linking and page speed. That is the gap between the Business Website and the Marketing Site + SEO/GEO.
- Transactions. Bookings, payments or orders add a database, a checkout, payment-gateway setup, confirmation messages and an admin screen. Booking sites, Shopify stores and custom e-commerce each have their own row in the table above.
- Connections. Sending enquiries to a CRM, WhatsApp or Tally is integration work, priced as its own package, such as the Sales CRM Starter or WhatsApp & Support Automation.
What does a website cost to run each year?
The build is one cost; keeping the site online is another, and it is paid to other companies. Our terms say it plainly: fees charged by other companies, such as hosting, domains, payment-gateway fees and software licences, are not in our price unless the proposal says so. We go through which ones apply to you on the scope call.
- Domain name: a yearly renewal paid to a registrar. The price depends on the extension and the registrar, so compare renewal prices, not only the first-year offer.
- Hosting: a monthly or yearly plan with a hosting provider. A site with a database, such as a booking site or a store, needs more than a brochure site.
- Store platform: hosted store builders such as Shopify charge a monthly plan, and paid apps add their own fees. Check the provider’s current India pricing page before you choose a plan.
- Payments: a fee on each successful payment, set by the payment gateway you use.
- Changes and support: the Business Website includes 30 days of post-launch support. After that, Managed Support & Growth starts at ₹14,000, with the founder on agreed monthly hours and 30 days’ notice to cancel.
WordPress, Shopify or custom: which costs less?
The software is rarely the expensive part. WordPress itself is free software, published under the GNU General Public License 1, and so is WooCommerce, its e-commerce plugin 2. What you pay for on a WordPress site is the theme, any paid plugins, hosting, the setup and the hours to keep it all updated.
Hosted builders such as Shopify fold hosting and software updates into a monthly subscription, which is why a theme-based store is quick and cheap to start: our Shopify Store Setup starts at ₹15,000 and is delivered within 30 days. A custom build such as the Business Website (Next.js with a headless CMS) or the E-commerce Build costs more up front and carries no store-platform subscription, though it still needs hosting. Once it is paid for in full, you own the work made for you.
Which works out cheaper depends on how long you keep the site and how much it has to do. A shop that will stay simple is often well served by Shopify. A site that must work in a particular way, or connect closely to your other systems, is where custom work pays its way. Ask every supplier for the build price and the yearly running costs side by side.
What do typical website budgets look like?
Most projects combine a site with one or two other jobs. These examples add up the starting prices on our cards, the same arithmetic as the website cost calculator, which lets you build your own combination.
- One page, with ad leads answered on WhatsApp: One-Page Website, Meta Lead Ads → WhatsApp — from ₹14,000 together
- Business site that sends enquiries to a CRM: Business Website, Sales CRM Starter — from ₹43,000 together
- New brand with a site built for search: Brand Identity Kit, Marketing Site + SEO/GEO — from ₹53,000 together
- Shopify store with orders posted to Tally: Shopify Store Setup, Tally Integration & Automation — from ₹27,000 together
- Custom store with WhatsApp support: E-commerce Build, WhatsApp & Support Automation — from ₹62,000 together
How do you compare two website quotes?
Put the quotes side by side and ask each supplier the same questions. The answers explain most of the difference in price, and they are worth having in writing before you pay anything.
- How many designed pages and templates are included, and which pages are content only?
- Who writes the copy, who supplies the photos, and who enters products or listings?
- Can your team edit pages without a developer, and in what tool?
- What is included after launch: a support period, fixes, hosting setup?
- Who owns the code, the domain and the hosting account once you have paid?
- Is GST included in the quoted price? Our prices exclude GST; where it applies, 18% GST is added and shown in the written proposal.
- Is the price fixed in writing against a written scope, or a range given on a call?
How we worked out these figures
Every MakinForU price on this page is read from our live price list when the page is built, so it always matches the package cards. Example budgets simply add those starting prices together; they are not bundle discounts.
Figures and facts about other companies’ software come from those companies’ own published files and pages, on the date shown. Where a cost depends on the provider, plan or volume you choose, such as domains, hosting, store subscriptions and gateway fees, we name the cost and leave the figure to the provider’s current pricing page rather than print a number that may already be out of date.
