How does Tally data get into Power BI without a paid connector?

TallyPrime can answer XML requests over HTTP when it is configured to act as a server. We use that built-in interface to export the vouchers, ledgers and stock figures the dashboard needs, so there is no third-party connector to buy for the extraction. Power BI then lays those exports out as pages for sales, receivables, stock and P&L.

The pages follow the questions an owner usually puts to the books: what sold, who still owes money, what is sitting in stock, and what the period made or lost. Because the figures come from TallyPrime itself, nobody has to re-key them into a spreadsheet before the owner can see them, and the CA is looking at the same source.

What if we run several branches or Tally companies?

Branch and company consolidation is part of the package. Figures from each branch or company are brought together in Power BI, so you can read the group total and still filter down to one branch when a number looks wrong. How your companies are set up in Tally today, and which ones belong together, is mapped on the scope call.

The same numbers are then laid out twice: an owner view for running the business and a CA view for the people who check and close the books, so neither audience has to dig through pages that were meant for the other.

What does a daily refresh need from our side?

The refresh runs automatically every day, but it can only read Tally while TallyPrime is running and reachable. If your Tally lives on an office desktop that is switched off at night, we plan the refresh around that on the scope call. Tally on a cloud server, such as the one our Tally on Cloud Migration package sets up for ₹7,000, is reachable from anywhere, which makes scheduling simpler.

Once the dashboard is live, you have two options. Your own team can host it and keep the daily refresh running, or you can take the optional hosting and refresh support at ₹1,999/month and leave both with us. That monthly fee is optional and sits outside the ₹15,000 starting price of the build.

What is not included, and when is a bigger dashboard the better buy?

Power BI licences are sold by Microsoft and are separate from this package’s price; which licences your viewers need depends on how you share the reports, and we go through that on the scope call. The package also stays with Tally data. Bank feeds, forecasts and board packs are not in it.

If you need bank data, a 13-week rolling cash forecast and a board-ready monthly pack alongside the P&L, the Finance MIS & Cash-Flow Dashboard at ₹45,000 is the closer fit. If investors are the audience, the CFO Dashboard & Investor Pack at ₹25,000 adds covenant and KPI monitoring and an investor reporting template.

FAQ

04
How much does a Tally to Power BI dashboard cost?

The Tally → Power BI Dashboard starts at ₹15,000 and is delivered within 30 days. Hosting and refresh support is optional, at ₹1,999/month. Power BI licences are sold by Microsoft, separately from the build. Your fixed price arrives in writing after a 15-minute scope call.

Is there a Tally to Power BI connector we need to buy?

Not for this package. The data comes out through TallyPrime’s own XML interface, so no paid connector is part of the build, and Power BI reads those exports on a daily refresh. Which Power BI licences your viewers need is a separate question, and we walk through it on the scope call.

Does it work if TallyPrime is on a local PC?

Yes, provided the refresh can reach it: the PC has to be on and TallyPrime running when the refresh runs, and we plan the timing around that on the scope call. Moving Tally to a cloud server is a separate package, Tally on Cloud Migration, at ₹7,000.

Will the dashboard change anything in our Tally books?

No. The package exports data from TallyPrime and reads it in Power BI; it does not post vouchers or edit ledgers. If you want an online store, a CRM or an app to write entries into Tally, that is the Tally Integration & Automation package at ₹12,000.

Can our CA get a different view from the owner?

Yes. Owner and CA views are both part of the package, laid out for different jobs: one for running the business, one for checking and closing the books. Who sees which view is agreed on the scope call and written into the proposal before anything is built.
