Tally Shopify integration for orders, refunds and payouts

Tally Integration & Automation starts at ₹12,000 and is delivered within 30 days. For a Shopify store, it posts orders, refunds and payouts into TallyPrime, maps customers and products to your ledgers and stock items, checks GST fields before posting, queues and retries anything Tally rejects, and sends a daily reconciliation report.

What does one Shopify order become in Tally?

Follow a single order. When it is placed, the connector reads it from Shopify and translates it into Tally’s terms: the customer to their own party ledger, or to one common party ledger if your accountant prefers; each product to a stock item; the tax on each line to the right GST ledgers. The GST fields are checked, and the sale is posted as a sales voucher through TallyPrime’s XML interface.

When the money arrives, it becomes a receipt voucher. A gateway payout usually reaches your bank as one amount covering many orders, less the gateway’s fees, so the mapping has to show those fees rather than bury them in the difference. Refunds are posted against the sales they reverse. The daily reconciliation report then sets Shopify’s orders beside Tally’s vouchers, so an order that never reached the books is caught while it is still fresh.

One voucher per order, or a daily summary?

Tally can hold either. One voucher per Shopify order gives your accountant a line for every invoice, which makes any single order easy to trace but adds volume to the books. A daily summary voucher keeps Tally lighter and leaves the order-level detail in Shopify. Which one suits you depends on your order volume and on how your CA reviews sales for GST, so it is settled on the scope call and written into the proposal, together with the ledger names the connector should use.

Where do discounts, shipping charges and payment routes go?

A Shopify order carries more than products. A discount code lowers what the customer pays, a shipping charge may be added on top, and the money arrives either through a gateway or as cash collected by the courier. Each of those needs a place in Tally: a ledger for discounts, one for shipping charged to customers, and a separate ledger for each route the money travels by, so the gateway’s balance and the courier’s balance can each be cleared as they pay out.

These are accounting choices as much as technical ones, because they decide how your sales and GST read in the books, so your CA should see them before anything is built. They are made once, during ledger and item mapping, written into the proposal, and then applied the same way to every order.

What is not included?

The package covers the Shopify-to-Tally direction: vouchers, mapping, GST validation, the error queue and the daily report. It does not build or change your Shopify store — Shopify Store Setup (₹15,000) does that — and it does not generate e-invoices or e-way bills, which GST & E-Invoice Automation covers from ₹30,000. A one-off import of orders from before go-live, custom reports inside Tally and a TallyPrime licence are not part of the price either; raise any of them on the scope call.

FAQ

03
What does Tally Shopify integration cost?

Tally Integration & Automation starts at ₹12,000 and is delivered within 30 days. For a Shopify store, that price covers the connector that turns orders, refunds and payouts into TallyPrime vouchers, and the mapping and checks around it. Gateway fees and your TallyPrime licence sit outside it. Your fixed price arrives in writing after a 15-minute scope call.

How are refunds and returns recorded?

Each refund is posted against the sale it reverses, so sales in Tally come down by the right amount and the GST on that sale is reversed with it. In Tally that is usually done with a credit note. The voucher type and ledgers are agreed with you and your CA on the scope call, since the package’s standard set is sales, purchase and receipt vouchers.

Does it handle cash-on-delivery orders?

COD orders are paid later, when the courier sends the cash on, so the sale and the money arrive at different times. The sale can be posted when the order is recorded and the receipt when the remittance arrives. Which remittance data the connector reads, and from where, is agreed on the scope call.

We also sell on Amazon and Flipkart. Can those orders reach Tally?

Yes, through the same Tally Integration & Automation package, but marketplace settlements work differently from a Shopify payout: commissions, fees, returns and tax collected at source are taken out before you are paid. Our Amazon and Flipkart to Tally page explains that, and when Retail & Marketplace Stock Sync (₹50,000) is worth adding.

Does our Shopify store need to change?

The connector can only post what Shopify holds. If products are missing tax details, or the same item appears under different names, GST validation or item mapping will stop those orders before they reach Tally, and they wait in the error queue with the reason. Whether each gap is fixed in Shopify by your team or handled in the mapping is agreed on the scope call.
